In the traditional industrial area of Rothensee, outside the city gates of Magdeburg, the Rothensee waste-to-energy plant (MHKW Rothensee) was put into operation. With the implementation of the new statutory regulations starting on June 1, 2005 and the consistent focus of our services towards the specific waste disposal needs of municipal and commercial customers, we offer a cutting-edge system solution, which guarantees efficient and eco-friendly treatment of residual waste. Some 250 million Euros were invested in the project, also making the waste-to-energy plant in Rothensee a relevant economic factor in the region. The MHKW Rothensee is able to transform approximately 650,000 tons of household rubbish and similar waste into electricity and district heating every year.
