Efficient power generation
The idea of incinerating waste is as old as humanity.
But the skill lies in protecting the environment and resources, and also producing useful energy.
The MHKW Rothensee comprises:
- Two blocks each with a waste bunker with two completely separate incineration lines n
- One turbine per block provides for the generation of electricity and district heating through cogeneration of heat and power
- Annual conversion of roughly 650,000 tons of household waste and commercial waste similar to household waste into:
370,000 MWh of electrical power
for more than 40,000 households and businessese350,000 MWh of district heating
for more than 44,000 households and businesses
in the capital city Magdeburg - Feed-in of electricity and district heating into the network of the public utility company Städtische Werke Magdeburg GmbH Co.KG, thus securing the base load for district heating.
This represents a saving of 18,000 tons of fuel oil or 20 million cubic metres of natural gas.
